Connections
Social channels and Slack
Connect WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger so messages land straight in the inbox, and get Slack notifications for new cases.

Every social connection lives under Settings → Integrations, in the "Email & Communications" category. You can connect more than one page or number of each type — useful if you run more than one brand.
WhatsApp Business
- 1
Create an app with Meta
Go to the Meta Developer Console and set up the WhatsApp Business API for your company if you haven’t already.
- 2
Get the Phone Number ID and Access Token
You’ll find these in Meta Business Manager under your WhatsApp product.
- 3
Enter them in Spjallbox
In Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp, paste the Phone Number ID and Access Token, give the connection a display name and click Connect.
- 4
Test the connection
Click "Test" to confirm the Meta Graph API responds correctly before relying on the connection in production.
Instagram DM and Facebook Messenger
Same basic steps as WhatsApp: get a Facebook Page ID and Page Access Token from Meta, paste them into the relevant tab (Instagram DM or Facebook Messenger), and test the connection. Both DM and Messenger messages then appear as regular cases in the inbox, with the same assignment and automation options as any other channel.
Meta requires the page/number to be verified in your own Meta Business Manager before the connection works fully — see the "Meta Developer Docs" link on the page for Meta’s own exact requirements.
Multiple connections and brands
- You can connect more than one WhatsApp number, Instagram page or Messenger page.
- Each connection can belong to a specific brand (widget) or be shared across all brands.
- One connection of each type is marked "Default" — it’s used whenever no brand-specific rule applies.
Slack notifications
- 1
Create a Slack webhook
In your Slack workspace, create an "Incoming Webhook" for the channel that should receive notifications.
- 2
Paste the webhook URL
In Settings → Integrations → Slack, paste the Webhook URL and click Save.
- 3
Send a test message
Click "Send test message" to confirm it shows up in the right Slack channel.
A Slack connection is the simplest way to keep your team informed about new cases without having Spjallbox open all day — a great complement to in-app push notifications.
Zapier, Make and n8n
If you use an automation platform like Zapier, Make or n8n, use the inbound webhook under the same Integrations tab (the "Automation" category) to send data into Spjallbox automatically from other systems — see "Integrations and API" for full details.
What happens if an Access Token expires?+
The connection stops working and you’ll see an error next time it’s tested. Get a new token from Meta Business Manager and update the connection.
Can I connect more than one Slack channel?+
The current setup supports one Slack webhook URL per organization — pick whichever channel works best for the whole team.
Do I need Meta Business verification just to start testing?+
To receive real messages from customers, yes — but you can set up and test the connections while verification is in progress.
